Editorial guidelines for guest posts

Tone and voice
- Conversational and relatable. All submissions should align with the tone and voice of Gal at Home. We aim for a conversational, personal, and approachable style, avoiding overly formal language.
- Authentic and honest. Content should reflect genuine insights and experiences. We encourage a warm, empathetic, and relatable approach in writing.
Content topics
- Relevant themes. We accept topics related to interior design, decorating, and home styling. All topics must be approved by our editorial team before submission.
- SEO considerations. Submissions should include primary and secondary keywords for SEO purposes. These keywords should appear at least 1-2 times in:
- The H1 header
- Other headers (H2, H3, etc.)
- The introductory paragraph
- The body text
- Anchor text requirements. Anchor text should read naturally within the sentence and reflect what the linked page is actually about. We do not accept generic phrases like “click here,” nor exact match anchor text repeated across multiple links in the same post.
Location-specific keywords are NOT permitted as anchor text, since we keep our content globally relevant.
Anchor text should stay distinct from the primary keyword we are targeting for the post itself. - Internal linking. All guest and sponsored posts must include 1-2 internal links to relevant Gal at Home content.
Audience
- Global relevance. Content should be aimed at a global audience, not just a USA or North American audiences. Topics, references, and examples should be inclusive and relatable to readers from various cultural backgrounds and regions.
Originality and plagiarism.
- Unique content. All submissions must be original and not published elsewhere. We do not accept plagiarized content. Each post will be checked for originality, and any content found to be plagiarized will be rejected.
- AI-generated content. Posts that are entirely AI-generated are not accepted. If AI was used to assist in generating text or images, this must be clearly indicated at the bottom of the article with the wording provided by Gal at Home.
Editorial discretion.
- Editing rights. We reserve the right to edit all submissions for clarity, style, grammar, and length. Any significant changes will be communicated to the author for approval before publishing.
- Approval and publishing timeline. Once your submission is complete, our editorial team reviews it within three (3) to five (5) business days. If we suggest edits, we send these back to you for approval before anything goes live. Once approved, your post is scheduled for publishing at a rate of one sponsored post per business day, so exact timing depends on our current queue. Your invoice is sent through PayPal once the post is live, and payment is due within 24 hours.
- Content removal. Gal at Home retains the discretion to remove any guest post from our site at any time, for any reason.
Byline and attribution
- Guest post acknowledgment. All guest posts must be clearly marked as such in the byline. The author’s name and a brief bio (up to 50 words) may be included, along with a link to the author’s website or social media profiles if desired.
- Disclosure of AI or affiliate content. If AI tools were used in the creation of text or images, this must be disclosed at the end of the post with the specified wording provided by Gal at Home. If affiliate links are included, this must be clearly indicated next to the link, stating that it is an affiliate link.
- Required introductory block. All guest posts will include an introductory block identifying the content as a guest or sponsored post. This ensures transparency for our readers and aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality, clearly attributed content.
Content guidelines
- Relevance and value. Submissions should be relevant to our audience and offer valuable insights, tips, or information. We aim to provide content that helps, inspires, and educates our readers.
- Non-promotional. While we allow a backlink to the author’s website or a relevant page, posts should not be overly promotional. Content should provide genuine value and not serve as a sales pitch.
Compliance
- Ethical standards. All content must adhere to ethical standards, including accurate information and fair use of any third-party content. Misleading or false claims are not permitted.
