Last month, I attended one of Our Home’s inspiring masterclasses called Creating Space for What Truly Matters. It was held at their SM Megamall branch on June 18, 2025, and was led by Christine Dychiao, one of the Philippines’ first certified KonMari experts, a previous Gal at Home collaborator, and someone whose work I deeply admire.
The theme couldn’t have been more aligned with what I always tell my clients: Your home shouldn’t just “store” your stuff. It should support the life you want to live. The masterclass was packed with practical tips and mindset shifts for anyone who feels like they’re drowning in clutter and wondering how to create more storage space in your home without turning it into a warehouse of bins and boxes.
We also got to check out some of the beautiful storage pieces and casegoods available at Our Home, many of which I’ve used in past projects with my own clients. Seeing them in person reminded me how much the right furniture and storage systems can transform a space not just aesthetically, but emotionally too.
Here are some of the key takeaways from the masterclass, plus how they connect to the Gal at Home ethos of creating homes you truly love.
Smart storage solutions go beyond hiding clutter
Christine opened with a point I wholeheartedly agree with: storage isn’t just about hiding things. The right smart storage solutions actually make it easier to keep clutter from piling up in the first place.
For example, she shared how storage ottomans, entertainment centers with cable management, and beds with built-in drawers help maintain order and keep your home looking and feeling calm. These pieces work hard behind the scenes while still letting your personality shine through.
One of the beautiful pieces we saw at Our Home was their solid wood chest of drawers—spacious enough to keep clothing and linens tucked away, yet stylish enough to elevate a bedroom corner. I’ve recommended similar pieces in bedroom designs before, and they never fail to add both function and visual warmth.
Organized living starts with intention
One big insight I took away was how much clutter really drains your energy, not just your time. Christine described it as a kind of “mental noise” that builds up every time you see surfaces piled with things you don’t know what to do with.
In Gal at Home projects, I’ve seen firsthand how clearing even one corner of a room changes how my clients move through their homes. That’s why we always start by asking: Does this item support the life I want to build? That question reframes organizing from a chore into a form of self-care.
When you think of organized living as intentional living, it’s easier to make decisions about what stays and what goes, and what kind of storage pieces will help keep things in order moving forward.

Home storage space ideas for a restful retreat
Christine also reminded us that storage isn’t just a practical concern; it shapes the way we experience a space. Nowhere is that more true than in the bedroom.
At the event, we saw a bed with built-in drawers seamlessly integrated into the frame, a clever solution for bedroom storage ideas that doesn’t sacrifice style. (We’ve actually used this bed before in one of our recent projects!) Christine encouraged everyone to think of the bedroom as a retreat, not a dumping ground. Keeping surfaces clear and seasonal clothes tucked away can make getting dressed feel like a breeze instead of a battle.
That philosophy resonates so much with how I work with clients: Your bedroom should help you rest and reset, not remind you of unfinished tasks.
When organizing your home, start small
Finally, my favorite takeaway from the masterclass was this: you don’t have to overhaul your whole home in one weekend. Start small: 15 minutes tackling one surface or one drawer is enough to build momentum. Those little wins create the motivation to keep going.
As Christine said, it’s not about following rigid rules or creating a showroom-perfect home. It’s about creating a space that reflects your values and supports your everyday life. That’s exactly what I try to help my clients uncover when we design their homes together.
With thoughtfully designed pieces that fit Filipino homes and lifestyles, plus delivery and installation options, it’s never been easier to create a home that feels organized, intentional, and truly yours.
